Alicia is the founder of MiMo Psychotherapy Group and was Miami’s first Linehan Board Certified Psychotherapist in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Her patients include adolescents and adults ranging from those with significant emotional and behavioral issues to higher functioning professionals looking to identify barriers to growth.
Alicia graduated magna cum laude from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and went on to attend graduate school at Florida International University in Mental Health Counseling where she graduated at the top of her class as summa cum laude. With extensive experience providing therapy, facilitating groups, and coordinating services from outpatient to residential settings, Alicia specializes in helping adolescents, adults and families in crisis. Building on her passion for DBT, Alicia received training in “Prolonged Exposure” – the DBT-PE protocol created by renowned researcher and trauma expert Dr. Melanie Harned – to facilitate healing for clients with trauma. Other specialties include eating disorders, suicidality, self-harm, mood disorders, behavioral issues/impulsivity, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, identity issues and LGBTQ issues. Alicia is particularly passionate about working with parents of adolescents and young adults and is currently running the DBT parent skills groups in addition and oversees a comprehensive DBT program with 5 DBT trained clinicians and 6 active skills groups.
