After nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of fields and functional areas that included higher education administration, K-12 online education, marketing, and business operations, Julie pivoted to a career in counseling, earning her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Tech. Julie’s post-masters training took place in a residential crisis stabilization unit, supporting adults who were in the midst of a mental health crisis. Julie also worked in a non-profit setting, providing individual therapy, couples counseling, and running groups.
Julie founded her fully virtual private practice, Featherman Therapy, in 2020. Julie works with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, family and relationship issues, career challenges, and other phase of life concerns. Julie has done extensive training to support clients with OCD, having completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) through the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and having more recently been trained to deliver Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT). Julie’s clinical specialty and passion is working with body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB’s), such as trichotillomania and skin-picking. Julie has completed extensive training on the Comprehensive Behavioral (ComB) treatment model and has supported many individual clients who have struggled with these often misunderstood behaviors.
Julie is based in Aventura, FL and is licensed to practice in Florida, Virginia, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Georgia.
